December 2023 Newsletter

Welcome and Thank You!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! As Christmas approaches, we are preparing to start sewing our costumes and are hard at work preparing for our end of year performance. Thank you to all of our students, parents, and volunteers what have been helping to support us. You are what make dancing together possible, and I am incredibly grateful.

Last Week of Classes of 2023

This week will be our last week of dance classes for 2023, and we will pick up our classes again in January of 2024. Saturday classes will conclude on December 16, 2023 and resume on January 6, 2024. Monday classes will conclude on December 18, 2023 and resume on January 8, 2024. I wish everyone a happy and safe holidays!

Recital

Tickets for the end of year performance, “Joyful, Joyful!” will be available for sale starting in January. Tickets may be purchased at the Fergus Grand Theatre box office at 244 St Andrew Street W, Fergus, ON, N1M 1N7, over the phone by calling the Fergus Grand Theatre at 519-846-9691 ext. 201 or purchased at the Fergus Grand Theatre website. A link will be provided in the January newsletter for those interested in purchasing tickets online. All proceeds from the show will be donated back the church at the performance.

Costumes

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in tracing sewing patterns for our generous seamstresses to be able to start sewing. Materials will be provided for individuals who are willing to trace patterns during class time or take patterns home with them to trace over the holidays. If you are interested in assisting with this project so we can start sewing in January, please reach out to Gwendolyn before class for instructions and materials.

Sewing will begin in January, and I will send out an email in the New Year to seamstresses with requests for which sewing projects I will be asking each of our volunteers to participate in. As I have not received any concerns from parents regarding the proposed costumes, we will be proceeding with the designs posted. Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the proposed costume designs.

If you are interested in sewing with us, and have not indicated your interest, please reach out to Gwendolyn so your participation can be arranged.

Christmas Craft Night

This Tuesday, December 19th, we will be hosting a Christmas Craft night for any and all children to come out and make a graham cracker ginger bread house at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Linwood. Everyone of all ages is welcome! We will begin at 7:30 in the basement hall.

What is required?

Nothing is required, all materials needed to build and decorate a Graham Cracker Gingerbread house will be provided. It is strongly recommended that children have a box to bring their creations home  to reduce the chances of breaking on the way home. Boxes should be large enough to fit a paper plate flat on the bottom of the box without shifting too much. If you would like, you may bring additional candies to decorate with, provided these candies do not contain nuts.

If you are interested in participating, please sign up so we can make sure to have enough candy, icing and graham crackers for everyone!
